It might seem strange at first sight, but Turkey reminds us in many ways of the Bible. Mount Ararat, where Noah's Ark stranded, is located in Turkey. Abraham was born in former Edessa, now Urfa.
The faith communities were seven churches (The Seven Churches of Asia) in western Asia (now Asia Minor). They were Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodikea. They are listed in order in which a courier, coming from Patmos, could visit them in the fastest way.
